How happy, how carefree, how joyful you are if you have a friend with whom you may talk as freely as with yourself, to whom you neither fear to confess any fault nor blush at revealing any spiritual progress, to whom you may entrust all the secrets of your heart and confide all your plans. - Aelred of Rievaulx
This is the relationship to which God is calling us - Spiritual Friendship.
“I no longer call you slaves…I have called you friends” John 15:15
Nothing we say or do takes God by surprise. He knows it all and yet wants to be in relationship with us. He wants us to turn to Him. He wants to rejoice with us. He wants to comfort us.
Centering Prayer is a type of prayer that allows us to deepen our faith in God’s abiding presence. That faith in His presence heals the fractures in our life. That faith buoys us when we celebrate miracles in our lives. That faith comforts us when we grieve a loss. Through it all God is there – our creator – our redeemer – our friend.
Mary Mother has two Contemplative Prayer groups that meet virtually. If you are new to Contemplative Prayer, want to renew your practice, or are looking for a prayer group, please call one of the Core Team members listed on the website.
