Saint Keteri Tekakwitha is the patron saint of environmentalists. She was a native American, a member of the Mohawk Tribe.
At the age of twenty she was baptized Catherine after Saint Catherine of Siena. Persecuted for her faith, she escaped to Saint Francis Xavier Mission in Canada.
Kateri walked through the forest and one of her favorite things to do was to make crosses out of sticks and pray the stations of the cross. She saw God in all creation.
Today there are almost half a million Native American Catholics in the United States from over 300 tribes and nations. They ask and pray for Keteri's intercession.
