Advent can become an unintentionally worrisome time as we get caught up in striving, rather than simply allowing each moment to unfold before us. Taking inspiration from a prayer on the website abide.com, we offer this practice as a way of releasing worry: Overcoming worry is found by intentionally seeking God. Let’s begin first to posture our bodies before God, as God postures and aligns our souls with the Great Soul. Take a position of alignment, perhaps placing your hands over your heart. Take deep breaths. Slip into a slow rhythm. Turn your focus now to the eternal God of creation. You belong to God. God has you. Sometimes, we struggle to feel worthy of that. What blocks you from accepting your place with God? Be honest with yourself, and ask God to remove anything preventing you from Divine Encounter. Now pray: Dear God, you know all things. You are close to me. You know me. You created me. You know my heart, and you know it worries sometimes. You know it’s anxious at times, it’s fearful, and all these things seem to magnify and grow worse when my focus turns to me, and not to you. So, help me now, in my time of prayer and at each moment, to focus on you – you first, and you only. You will give me enough, because you are more than enough. Show me how me how to trust you completely today. Amen. Fall into silence Contact us at 314-578-0062 or [email protected]!
