Gifting for Peace and Justice The Christmas season is all about gifts. After all, God gifted us with Emmanuel - God with us- with skin on, and we show our amazement and gratitude by giving gifts to others. But how do we give gifts that promote peace and justice? For the next three weeks, we will look at suggestions from a variety of sources to guide us. From Howard Thurman, African American mystic, theologian and Pastor (1900-1981):
Two suggestions for giving peace and justice during the Christmas season: 1. Find a way to reconcile with someone with whom you have a ruptured relationship and 2. Reach out to someone to whom you have no obligation with a word of reassurance, comfort, or appreciation.
Paraphrased from The Mood of Christmas by Howard Thurman, 1973.
Reflection: Are there other gifts in our relationships that can promote peace and justice?
